When I went to see this at cinema, 7 yrs old. I was shocked when they showed the shower scene. My mam was Irish catholic and even though the naughty parts were blanked out it was excruciatingly embarressing. - @Thursday, August 23, 2018 10:31 AM

A truly lovely film. I screened a nice 35mm print back in 2005 to an appreciative audience of around 150 people. OK, Ken Loach films are never 'light entertainment' but are always very special and a 'must see'. Here is a man who has always held proper social values and is now (eventually) being more widely recognised. Everyone - Please take note! - @Friday, February 17, 2017 12:28 AM

Showed the trailer to my partner who grew up in the USSR, she said it reminds her of the old Soviet-era films about poverty and growing up on communal work farms but 100% less funny. Ken Loach, Ladies and Gentlemen... More depressing than communism. - @Wednesday, October 26, 2016 11:20 AM

Its a shame that ken loach hates his country so much its a great film but loach has gone on to become a Jeremy corbyn monster that would give his country away to the highest bidder in an instant and hates his own people - @Saturday, April 2, 2016 7:42 AM

This film breaks my heart because that kid is me, brought up on a council estate in the sixties, it was tough and hard, you had to toughen up and stand your ground to get by, now I have a very big house, a posh wife and kids who go to private school, they know nothing of my childhood, not long ago we all sat and watched this film, I had to hide behind a news paper so I could sob my heart out, listening to billy being picked on and his northern accent just broke my heart in two. - @Monday, August 3, 2015 6:54 AM

Schools are actually about indoctrination so that kids accept living in servitude. They don't relate to a child's emotional issues because the system is not designed that way. I've researched this. - @Tuesday, September 16, 2014 1:25 PM
