Nader (Payman Maadi) and Simin (Leila Hatami) argue about living abroad. Simin prefers to live abroad to provide better opportunities for their only daughter, Termeh. However, Nader refuses to go because he thinks he must stay in Iran and take care of his father (Ali-Asghar Shahbazi), who suffers from Alzheimers. However, Simin is determined to get a divorce and leave the country with her daughter.

I cannot find the whole movie with sub-titles. I was asked by my Persian friend to watch it because I saw a movie "Not without My Daughter" and was so sad. This film is nothing short of amazing, artistic, and insightful. It so accurately portrays issues of morality and truth against a universal backdrop: family. Even though the film revolves around Iranian and Muslim culture, the developed and relatable characters prove this to be no hindrance when understanding the conflicts the plague the characters. You misunderstood me. First off I said "most Americans" not "All Americans" Just because the US brings in foreign films does not mean Americans watch them. And why you would you say I should "stop judging a culture you know NOTHING about" when I've lived in the US all my life. I work in a University and the only way to get students to watch foreign films is by bribing them with a better grade; they don't see them out of their own volition. Those who insult or think less of foreign films have no appreciation for people of other cultures with different values than their own. Many Americans do not have even a modicum of curiosity, of sincerely wanting to know and understand the way other cultures live their respective lives.
