Tricia's husband Daniel has been missing for seven years. Her younger sister Callie comes to live with her as the pressure mounts to finally declare him 'dead in absentia.' As Tricia sifts through the wreckage and tries to move on with her life, Callie finds herself drawn to an ominous tunnel near the house. As she begins to link it to other mysterious disappearances, it becomes clear that Daniel's presumed death might be anything but 'natural.' The ancient force at work in the tunnel might have set its sights on Callie and Tricia ... and Daniel might be suffering a fate far worse than death in its grasp.

This movie was low budget but it had a good story and a decent acting (unlike most of the popular, really commercial ones). I can understand why people think the movie is crap, but I'm more tolerant of inexperienced people with little money, especially since _I_ fall into that category. Everyone has to start somewhere. Not everyone has money to throw around on ambitions. It's expensive to WOW your audience. However, I will grant you that that's _certainly_ not the movie's only problems, and I'm not going to bitch you out for it. I actually really enjoyed it, and it's even one of my favorite movies. The plot is very simple, as are the characters, but the early clues allowed me to easily get hooked into it, and once Daniel showed up I couldn't wait to see what would happen next. It was, however, choppy, I will admit, but the scenes with Daniel, _anything_ supernatural and in the tunnel had me on the edge of my set. I don't understand how people say they couldn't care about the three characters. The thing that really does it though is the creature. I can think of a few horror movies or TV shows that have come out in America within the last half a decade or so that actually did anything for me besides just merely got my adrenaline surging rather than actually _getting to me_, though your mileage may vary. What happened during the climax in the tunnel was one of the most nightmarish uses of gore I've ever seen in a movie with them only having to _let us hear it and know what happened_. It's one of the most creative, as well a scariest, takes on folklore I've ever seen in my life, and del Toro should take notes on this if he wants to make folkloric beings scary to people rather than the laughable movie he came up with. I often disagree with critics over what they think constitutes a good movie (see: _American Beauty_, _The Family Stone_, _James Cameron's Avatar_), but I agree with them this time. - @Wednesday, March 9, 2016 10:15 AM

For a low budget horror this is very good. It starts off just ok then draws you in. Good performances from all the actors, an unsettling,hopeless atmosphere and very original concept.
