Originally, the films right of book that it was based on, did not intentionally go to Disney. With the book’s success at the time, it interested an MGM producer/director, Sidney Franklin, and the author, Felix Salten, sold the rights to Franklin for $1000. Franklin intended a live action with a ‘philosophical approach’. However, after years of failed experiments, Franklin decided that a live action film would be to difficult to make and one of his coworkers suggested Disney in hopes of an animated. Of course Disney is a childish company in general barely doing anything near the philosophical approach MGM intended and do the cutesy and whimsical stuff we end up in this film. Looks like fate really did make Bambi into a ‘memetic loser’when standard public makes him a laughing due to Disney’s cutesy ideas of even ice skating. And I’ve seen the films first. :P Also Disney just uses the child version of Bambi. - @Wednesday, August 15, 2018 2:54 AM

This trailer shows so much of his adult version, but nowadays Disney just uses the fawn version. In the original book, his mother promised him that he’ll be likely to interact with his father when he’s ‘grown up’ and it’s the Old Prince that he interacts with during adulthood. While in the movie they barely make as much use with the Great Prince. With at least Bambi spending more time with his father in Bambi 2 released 64 years later, but that’s while he’s still a child. - @Friday, June 1, 2018 9:47 PM
