I've noticed lately how Barbie movies and their themes have made a turn. Barbie movies were all about princesses (Diamond Castle), pop stars (Princess and the Pop Star), fairies (Fairytopia), mermaids (Mermaid Tale), ballerinas (Pink Shoes), pixies (Thumbelina) and fashion (Fashion Fairytale). And even though we have seen her as a hero and breaking gender norms before (Barbie in The 3 Musketeers), lately we've seen her as a superhero (Princess Power), a spy (Spy Squad), a space ranger (Star Light Adventure), and a gamer (Video Game Hero), things usually given to boys. I think its great that Mattel has decided to do that and even though I also miss old Barbie (Talking about the style of animation and her having more maturity), I still think she is doing something great for girls AND boys included.
