Obviously I am 5 years late. Just came to know about this film and *spoiler alert* I wish they ended up together. It was heartbreaking to see them let go of each other like nothing happened. - @Wednesday, October 3, 2018 7:10 PM

Really great movie. It is very intense, but worth to look. When man thing about it, everyone is unhappy at the end. - @Saturday, September 29, 2018 10:11 PM

Drake Doremus makes such incredible, gorgeous films... If you haven't watched "Newness" and "Equals" yet, just go for them. All of his work is so impressive, poetic, smart, and visually mind-blowing (or eye-blowing, I should say). Such a great director..! - @Monday, June 18, 2018 10:53 AM

I haven't watched the movie yet and already I knew the daughter was going to be annoying. Based on the comments, I'm not wrong. I really don't like that actress either. - @Sunday, April 8, 2018 4:17 AM

SPOILER! the ending was bad , and it's not about the fact that they didn't end up together like I can' understand that, but I hated how he had to continue living with his wife ! he should've left and pursued his dreams after the recovery of his daughter. - @Tuesday, August 22, 2017 10:06 PM

I still do not get who Clement is or what his role was. The only reason I watched the movie is because of the actor's accent. - @Sunday, July 23, 2017 4:03 PM

Just finished watching. It somehow reminded of "Carol." Of course Carol was waaaayy better...but it reminded of it because there was a lot of tension, it was intense, but all done in a very subtle way...and that can only be achieved thru good film making and great acting. Slow burning films like this and carol, always worth it!! :) - @Wednesday, March 1, 2017 7:16 PM

I think even though they loved each other , it wouldn't have worked out. Plus it fucked up 2 other people's lives , Sophie was homebound. It still would have been nice to see a nice ending though, all the movies I have been watching end unjust or leave you with a feeling like the story wasn't over yet. - @Sunday, January 29, 2017 8:29 AM

I was pretty disappointed with the ending of this film, it was very abrupt, but the rest of the film is enjoyed, Felicity Jones and Guy Pearce are wonderful in this. I wasn't a fan of the daughters character, it thought she was very annoying. - @Tuesday, August 2, 2016 8:08 PM

Very predictable plot, but the feel of the film makes it worth watching, along with the great acting and amazing soundtrack. I recommend it for a rainy day by your self. - @Wednesday, June 29, 2016 4:20 AM

SPOILER ALERT . . . . . . the world is so wrong. they loved each other, they should have ended up together. I know that the ending is probably very realistic, but the passion between the two was so intense that I think they'll love each other for the rest of their lives and that they will find a way to get back together. - @Wednesday, March 9, 2016 10:07 PM

adored the way he looked at her; like she was his missing puzzle piece in life. like the way lester burn ham looked at angela hayes, or the way humbert humbert looked at lolita. Absolutely dazzling. - @Wednesday, February 24, 2016 1:58 AM

It had quite predictable plot but the emotional, sexual build up was so well played and very intense. And the soundtrack and editing was beautiful. I wouldn't say this is the best film I've seen but it's definitely moody and brings you into certain state of mind.  I also thought that his smile looks so specific and unique and like I have seen it somewhere before and then I remembered that this is the same guy who played Andy Warhol in The Factory Girl... never would have guessed. - @Saturday, February 6, 2016 8:06 PM

Such an underrated film! I only watched it because of Guy Pearce (incredible actor!) and read all the reviews before and hesitated because people didn't seem to like it. But I liked it a lot and it felt very real and genuine. Guy Pearce said that many of the scenes were improvised! - @Monday, September 14, 2015 3:34 PM

SPOILER ALERT!!! Even though it was 'wrong' I wanted them together, the way it built up was so sweet and kind of real, like if they met in another life they would've been together. It was incredibly frustrating to watch but it was I think a very underrated film. His look at the end with the photos was kind of heartbreaking. I think most people can identify with that feeling of missed opportunities and regrets and how your life feels like it  can just develop a mind and will of its own... - @Saturday, March 7, 2015 2:36 AM

They didn't even kiss, the girls found out too easily, jumped to conclusions too easily, almost no dialog, this movie wasn't that great at all. - @Thursday, March 5, 2015 7:31 PM

I liked this movie and the performances, but I think the profesor's daughter was amazing, tipical insecure teenage and with her expressions she said everything. And I think the ending is right, it's actually what would happen in real life. (really) - @Tuesday, February 10, 2015 4:19 AM

This movie is okay but as a former exchange student, watching this was quite disturbing. Host parents are supposed to make you feel like home, like you're with your biological ones. The thought of building a romantic interest with my host dad is just... ugh. No. I can't even. It's like having an affair with your own father. So messed up. - @Sunday, February 1, 2015 6:40 PM

LOL Felicity Jones as a foreign student again!? Anybody seen "Like Crazy" ? It was a good movie. I'm not sure with this one. - @Monday, January 12, 2015 8:42 AM

If anyone who has watched Breathe In, can anyone tell me the song they play when Sophie gets picked up by Aaron it's sort of like an electro pop song kind of like M83 genre ? - @Tuesday, October 14, 2014 6:27 PM

Elephants Fly
I thought it was a beautifully crafted film. The cinematography was thoughtfully simple, allowing the subdued story to trickle through. Apparently others that saw this film thought the pace was too slow, but I disagree. To me, the story was one of hidden desires, slowly brought to the surface until everything boils over. The main character had a yearning for year's passed, and even though his subsequent decisions are incredibly selfish, they are admittedly understandable. Responsibilities and emotional ties can grow into prisons over time, and every so often, a way out presents itself. The heart wrenching decision is whether to put yourself aside, focus on what you're supposed to do, and keep moving; or finally give in to the things hidden deep within ourselves, even though they can hurt those we love the most. The entire film is a wonderful visualization of this slow process.  Spoiler Alert. The last scene in which Lauren's wounds are scarred over seems to either represent forgiveness over time, or the act we put on to keep up appearances, putting on fake smiles for the cameras (society).  - @Sunday, October 12, 2014 5:26 AM

Even though I somewhat liked this movie, the only thing that kind of bothered me was how the characters' (Guy Pearce's and Felicity Jones') interacted. It was like the guy was going through a midlife crisis or something like that. - @Tuesday, October 7, 2014 11:25 PM
