California Typewriter is one of the most fascinating documentaries I've ever experienced. It's beautiful, intelligent, full of creativity and humanity, gorgeously directed and edited, and it rocked my world by opening my mind and perceptions to a wonderful culture and way of life that never occurred to me. A visit to the store in Oakland 10 days after seeing the documentary in NYC and meeting Doug Nichol and Jeremy Mayer, was the icing on the whole experience! Visiting the store and having a wonderful conversation with Ken Alexander, brought me even closer to the feelings and thoughts I had while watching the film.
