Father James is a small-town priest in Ireland whose Sunday confessionals suddenly include a threat to kill him in a week's time as a matter of principle. Deeply troubled and conflicted about how to respond, Father James tries to go on with his calling through that week. However, that proves impossible as he is confronted with a troubling variety of spiritual challenges from both his estranged daughter and his own parishioners. In those dispiriting struggles, Father James' life begins to fall apart as time runs out towards a confrontation that seems to crystallize his values and what he wants his life to be.

This preview really doesn't do justice to this movie. I thought this movie was fantastic, the cinematography was excellent (filmed in Ireland). But I really liked the themes, acting, and plot as well. The cast is small but each character shows in-depth aspects of their own psyche and the local priest (Brendan Gleeson) is caught right in middle of it all as he battles his own inner demons as his alcoholism beckons him. - @Monday, May 9, 2016 4:40 PM

Speaking as an Irish Atheist, this movie is brilliant in so many ways. The main character and (spoiler) his daughter are very easy to fall for. The ending 15-20 especially is one of the best written, shot and acted pieces of film I've seen in a while.
