Has anyone noticed the connection between this magnificent dance and the Music of the Night scene in Broadway's Phantom of the Opera, with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman? - @Wednesday, August 5, 2015 7:30 AM

I love 'Change Partners'. It's one of my favorite of all their dances together...very sexy. Ginger was a lovely, sweet woman. I met her at a book signing in the early 90s. Probably the best moment of my life. - @Saturday, April 4, 2015 8:36 AM

Do they ever look great together. To see Fred and Ginger dance is to understand the meaning of reciprocity, and generosity, and trust, and mutual respect. - @Wednesday, December 5, 2012 5:05 PM

Fred Astaire: The Sultan of Savoir-flaire
Actually, Fred DID KISS Ginger at 1:33. Lore has it that it was unscripted and Fred just kissed her. Fred was simply mad about his wife Phyllis, and was scandal-free in his dealings w/ co-stars & starlets. I'm sure it was a form of poetic license with a bit of exuberance thrown in for a good performance. Barrie Chase says that when she danced with Fred, he would say things under his breath like, "You've got it, girl!" to encourage her when filming. With the ladies, he was a REAL gentleman. - @Wednesday, October 10, 2012 3:03 AM

Thanks so much for this clip. I like Fred best as Tony. Do you have the clip where Tony talks to her after finding out she loves him and then hypnotises her to love Steve instead? - @Monday, August 6, 2012 8:37 PM

My favorite Astaire-Rogers dance. The way she falls gently backwards and he catches her is the most elegant, romantic, beautiful thing I have ever seen. - @Friday, January 13, 2012 1:18 AM

I also want to add that Fred's acting had really improved at this point. Don't misunderstand me, I'm not implying that he was ever BAD, he was just never really challenged as an actor before this. But in this scene, he conveys so many emotions, and it's beautifully executed. - @Friday, December 23, 2011 2:31 AM

This is probably the sexiest dance Fred and Ginger ever did (tied with "Night and Day" from "The Gay Divorcee"). You can really FEEL the tension between them, and, yes, the moment at 1:24 is heartbreakingly gorgeous. I love the longing expression on Fred's face, and the graceful way his hand is placed on her back. Notice how Ginger's lips are parted ever so slightly, as if pleading for his touch. Just... wow! - @Thursday, December 22, 2011 4:05 AM

Fred Astaire was the epitome of masculine grace! Michael Jackson loved him and studied his dance movements......he truly was poetry in motion!! - @Monday, May 30, 2011 11:27 PM

This is simply wonderful. They make it look so VERY, VERY easy. It's NOT !!! The concept for this was Ginger's....the choreography was Fred's and Pan's. Fred readily admitted to Ginger's many contributions to these great dances. Hannah Hyam rates "Carefree" as the last of the classic F & G films. It deserves four stars from TCM. Five of the 10 F&G films are top rated already. This film deserves to be included too. - @Tuesday, May 24, 2011 4:11 PM

At 1:24... It's so good, Fred does look like he's dying to kiss her, but I think he actually does kiss her around 1:33. It's quick and not turned to the camera, so it might have been inadvertent, because Ginger doesn't turn her head when Fred does. Or it might have been something he slipped in, who knows? Either way, I love this dance. Ginger looks so tall and gorgeous and there's so much chemistry!! - @Monday, October 25, 2010 3:49 PM

Singularly gorgeous...my favorite part is at 00:45 when Rogers hypnotically falls deep into Astaire's arms and goes into the backbend that she did so well. A beautiful staging- and in a sexy black gown- unusual but effective choice. - @Wednesday, August 11, 2010 1:42 AM
