Action Fantasy Horror Mystery

7.2 / 10

Mary Henry is enjoying the day by riding around in a car with two friends. When challenged to a drag, the women accept, but are forced off of a bridge. It appears that all are drowned, until Mary, quite some time later, amazingly emerges from the river. After recovering, Mary accepts a job in a new town as a church organist, only to be dogged by a mysterious phantom figure that seems to reside in an old run-down pavilion. It is here that Mary must confront the personal demons of her spiritual insouciance.

I believe Jacobs Ladder must have been strongly influenced by this film. - @Thursday, August 9, 2018 1:10 PM

I think Mary Lambert missed the point of this film. These are not zombies, but spirits that only the woman can see and are trying to get her to realize she's between worlds, since she is dead, but doesn't know it. One of the very few films that actually works best in B&W and not color. Low budget horror masterpiece! - @Monday, July 23, 2018 12:39 PM

This must have been one of the "Sponsored" vanity clips. Her complete lack of depth on the movie itself (...and the character's name is Mary so I associated with that") makes it painfully obvious that she is way out her league here. Zombies?! Really?! Let's not bring up the fact that IMBD exists if you want to at least Sound informed. Wooden acting probably made her good for playing dead people.. Jesus, Mary and Joseph! Candice had 5 roles. Of the 5, two were for TV, 1 had people being picked off by a dead MAN and the last was about outlaws fleeing to Canada (uncredited.) Good job, you bimbo. As someone who was trying to get your face out there 2 years after your last screen"credit" (MEGAPYTHON vs. GATOROID) you probably couldn't bare to read of another forgotten career woman. If you feel the need to express yourself write a damn autobiography. At least you will know your readers wanted to hear it. I hope this isn't your Second career move because the only thing worse than pandering is "Slumming It." As for your abysmal comprehension and respect for film, In This case it was not the Trailer that came from hell. - @Sunday, October 15, 2017 3:10 AM

I saw "Carnival of Souls" quite a few years ago on American Movie Classics. Two stories that have similarities to this story, though are still unique by themselves, are "The Others" starring Nicole Kidman and the "The Lovely Bones". I've seen "The Others" as a movie, don't know if there was a short story or novel first; I read "The Lovely Bones" but haven't seen the movie but was greatly impressed by the book. I read it shortly after the death of a sibling which may probably added to my reaction to the book but the book is superlative on its own. - @Wednesday, September 14, 2016 12:58 AM

This movie is now one of my favorites. If you like David Lynch, you might enjoy this one, too. - @Tuesday, July 12, 2016 5:17 AM

Despite the trailer here, this is a neat little film you can appreciate even though it wasn't done on a big budget. That only serves to add to its unique, creepy feel. I have to give everyone connected with this little gem an 'A' for effort. I has a very well-deserved following. - @Tuesday, March 4, 2014 6:28 PM

Yes, it's really silly. The publisher of this clip says it is about some "Carnival of LOST souls" (thought Mary Lambert is clear about the real name) and the description of the movie is for My Man Godfrey (1936). Why don't they change? - @Thursday, July 11, 2013 9:46 PM

OK... I got it. The synopsis is actually for My Man Godfrey. And this video is actually a trailer for Carnival of Souls (there's no "Lost" in the title) - @Friday, July 5, 2013 7:27 PM

this is supposed to be Carnival of Lost Souls, but the video trailer is the 60s Carnival of Souls-- the b horror movie. - @Friday, July 5, 2013 7:24 PM

synopsis doesn't match movie (it describes My Man Godfrey) - @Wednesday, July 3, 2013 6:17 AM
