- @Sunday, April 19, 2015 1:00 PM

Why did Chicago win the Oscar for best picture, even if it was practically surrounded by "better films", like many believe? *Here's the answer.* The Lord of the Rings movie is a fantasy adventure, a genre which is not viewed well by the Academy Judges. Holocaust movies (The Pianist) and semi-historical ones (Gangs of NY) are also ignored, as the judges like to put their attention on the "normal genres", like drama, and everything else. Many address the judges as a "buncha old folks, with film tastes that are way too plain, stagnant and always the same", which I think is true. When they saw Chicago, they surely didn't even care about the others. It's a decent musical, thing that wasn't seen in some years. It's a thing that makes me angry. Many movies won the Best Picture Award, and about a fifth of them won while the remaining nomination were unexcusably better, in every way, and not like "we like this because it's bla bla bla", just because there's one aspect that you like more and makes the movie your favorite, doesn't mean it needs to win. It comes down to a matter of tastes sometimes, and Chicago won because of it. Even if it wasn't "noble" as the others, it looked like your average 7 out of 10 movie. End of the story. - @Monday, March 3, 2014 6:52 PM

I did like the songs in this and musicals aswell i just didn't like the movie itself though... To me it was nothing but women dancing around in underwear and i kinda felt one of the songs was mostly about how men are pigs - @Wednesday, August 14, 2013 2:52 PM

Gorgeous movie. And by the way, am I the only one who thinks Renée Zellweger and Jennifer Lawrence could be sisters? When I first saw JLaw on screen, I think it was Winter's Bone when she still had blond hair, I seriously thought it was young Reneé! - @Tuesday, May 21, 2013 12:47 PM

I was just going for the most basic of examples. When you simply don't like a ''genre'', in any type of artistic creation, there is no reason to waste your time watching creations of that ''genre, just because there's a glimpse of hope that you'll fall upon something you appreciate. If you suddenly fall upon it, GREAT! If you keep watching stuff you hate, you're either an idiot or a sadomasochist, you're not closed minded. - @Sunday, March 10, 2013 5:38 AM
