Coonskin showed me that Bakshi was a brilliant animator, but one who had almost no fucking clue how to make a film tell a story. His plot elements were there, and a great story was there, right at the tip of his paintbrush, but you almost would totally miss it because come crucial piece of plot would be blurted out in a mish-mash of bad dialouge cuts, or the pacing was horrid, or emphasis was given to some scene because it was more aesthetic and funny and distracted. I still watch coonskin once or twice a year, and love it, but damn he could have edited it better, done better dialogue takes, etc. - @Sunday, February 12, 2017 3:05 AM
