In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass and Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feet-or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy...until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive. Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. I didn't like it very much 6/10 for me. It was funny and enternaining but it was a shallow and empty story. The charecters beyond the protagonist are barely developed, the story has plenty of plot holes, if not awkward at times and the jokes are 90% of the time about him not fitting in with the time period. Ha ha! Johnny Depp is Wunderbar! Those who think he's arrogant don't have a clue. The man doesn't have an arrogant bone in his body. He's smart, sophisticated, handsome, extremely talented and laid back. Every movie he has done with Tim Burton is different. While you can tell it's a Tim Burton film, each one is unique as is Johnny Depp's performance. They make a brilliant team. - @Sunday, May 13, 2012 8:25 PM
