Following the events of Night of the Living Dead (1968), we follow the exploits of four survivors of the expanding zombie apocalypse as they take refuge in an abandoned shopping mall following a horrific SWAT evacuation of an apartment complex. Taking stock of their surroundings, they arm themselves, lock down the mall, and destroy the zombies inside so they can eke out a living--at least for a while. Tensions begin to build as months go on, and they come to realize that they've fallen prey to consumerism. Soon afterward, they have even heavier problems to worry about, as a large gang of bikers discovers the mall and invades it, ruining the survivors' best-laid plans and forcing them to fight off both lethal bandits and flesh-eating zombies.

like everyone I guess, this movie had a big role in my life along with the carry on movies, not sure when I first saw this but I had it playing in the "video room" at my birthday party when I was around 12, may sound bad now but back then this was before bbfc and age restriction, as long as mum came to video shop pledgers with me we could choose what we wanted and Wednesday was 50p day!! half price I guess, but one of the best zombie movies still...shame about Cameron romero and his terrible sounding origin movie...and he says he knows what the fans want?? a zombie film telling us how the outbreak started which incidently in his film its going to be as a biological warfare tool in some lab...yawn, how generic?? we would have preferred another dawn of the dead alike from the romeros...he seems to have gone the way of the other crap filmmaker...hinzman....god save us all.... - @Thursday, November 17, 2016 3:07 AM

One of the reasons this is such a good zombie movie is because is isn't a flashy hollywood blockbuster or a cheap-ass cash-in on a fad. It's basically and indie movie made with practical effects and has a lot of "heart" put in it. The spookiness and scariness is mostly in the atmosphere and the viewer has to sort of participate by using some imagination to immerse themselves in the film. It requires an attention span. Well you gotta remember not only was this a low budget movie with TONS of extras who needed makeup, CGI didn't exist, and they didn't even have a realistic looking synthetic blood look-alike for special effects in movies yet.
