In Austin, Texas, the girlfriends Julia, Arlene and Shanna meet in a bar to drink, smoke and make out with their boyfriends before traveling alone to Lake LBJ to spend the weekend together. They meet the former Hollywood stuntman Mike, who takes Pam out in his "death-proof" stunt car. Fourteen months later, Mike turns up in Lebanon, Tennessee and chase Abernathy, Zoë and Kim, but these girls are tough and decide to pay-back the attack.

I actually think this is an incredibly underrated movie. In my opinion, it was a better homage to an exploitation film that you would see in a Grindhouse theater compared to Planet Terror. Plus, it has one of the best chase scenes ever put on film. really disappointed to see such negative feedback for this film...... it's a throwback to 80s b horror, grindhouse cinema (hence the name and it's release as a double feature with planet terror along with the outlandish gore) and early slasher films... which, if not your cup of tea, I could totally understand not "getting" this movie but it's excellent. strong, badass, accurately written female characters, muscle cars, a great soundtrack, what's not to love? Quentin might have said this is his weakest film, but it was mainly a defense because of how poorly it was received.
