Ahh, yes, 1989. That was the year The Abyss came out and almost every studio out there wanted to rush their own knockoff into theatres before it dropped. Deep Star Six, Leviathan, Lords of the Deep... all came out months before The Abyss and that's probably why Cameron's film was a box office flop more than anything else. - @Thursday, November 1, 2018 12:15 AM

It's funny, there were four big Hollywood "GREAT IDEA!" trends that occured in my childhood. First, we had Underwater Science Fiction. (Leviathan, DS6, Abyss). Then we had Dinosaurs (Carnosaur, Jurassic Park, many other low budget schlock), then we had volcanoes (Volcano, Dante's Peak, others), then we had space disaster movies, (Armageddon, Deep Impact, The TV movie "Meteor" and other low budget copy cats.) Just rather interesting. I've never seen Deep Star Six. I might have to check it out. I loved Leviathan. - @Friday, December 1, 2017 5:02 AM

All these guys ended up in TV crime dramas like CSI & Law & Order! I swear I just saw the main cast from every TV crime drama of the last 15 years! BTW is this any better or worse than Leviathan? I was expecting that to be terrible but interestingly it had its "moments", I decided to keep it lol. - @Thursday, August 3, 2017 10:05 PM

This is an okay undersea monster type flick. The story seems plausible, the acting is good, and the interior sets look realistic. The exterior equipment like minisubs, etc., however, have a "smallish" look to them like they used undersized models. The sea monster, which we only begin to see an hour and eight minutes into this hour and forty minute long flick, is just shown in brief flashes and, imo, not shown enough. The ending looks almost exactly like the one in _Leviathan_ which I think was a better film overall. Several noticeably technical flaws in the film such as the surviving couple must decompress before they can enter a minisub and rise to the ocean's surface after having spent six months at a depth of several miles. The decompression is accomplished in only a few hours when, in reality, it would require several *days* in a decompression chamber. - @Sunday, July 2, 2017 7:26 AM

BJ Mckay under water! Where's the Bear? Seriously though..... Classic in camera sci fi effects. The best! I love the movie guy narrator for this trailer....LOL. Why can't the networks play more older movies instead of repeating the same recent crap? There's a huge library of cool movies that still hold their own today..... if you're into movies and special effects that is. Come get some Catspit~! - @Wednesday, April 27, 2016 12:52 AM

Leviathan has a man with a mouthful of sharp teeth in one hand and a ghastly female who tells a pack of lies. Deepstar Six has a diver bitten in half and a lesson in why you should never decompress without being properly kitted out. DS wins - just. - @Saturday, November 30, 2013 2:55 AM
