Five separate stories unfold: An architect returns to his ancestral home to find a werewolf out for revenge; a doctor suspects his new wife is a vampire; an intelligent vine takes over a house; a jazz musician plagiarizes music from a voodoo ceremony; a pompous art critic is pursued by a disembodied hand.

Thanks for helping to bringing this little known gem attention! For those who are interested, the movie comprises five short stories, each representing a sub-genre of horror movies: Werewolves, Vampires, Triffids, Voodoo and a Crawling Hand out for revenge. My favourite is Roy Castle's voodoo story - it really caught my imagination when I first saw it as a child. Donald Sutherland as the husband of a vampire, Roy Castle as a jazz trumpeter who thinks he's won the composers' lottery and Christopher Lee as the victim of a crawling hand are all brilliant. The whole thing is cemented by a laconic performance by Peter Cushing, a mysterious gypsy fortune teller. A classic movie, despite it's minor weaknesses. I enjoyed this film more than I thought. However, there techincally IS a "House" of a horrors, just not in the conventional sense. The house is referred here to as the deck of tarot cards (or house of cards) that Dr. Terror is carrying with him as he is telling the men about their fates. - @Sunday, August 25, 2013 6:40 AM
