Husband and wife doctors Paul and Kim Jordan need a drastic change. Distraught by the inexplicable death of their baby, Paul (C. Thomas Howell) convinces Kim to abandon their American lives and join a medical mission in Thailand. It seems to be just the distraction they need, until the day Paul is kidnapped by human traffickers who need a surgeon to operate on their wounded leader. Kim is left alone in a strange country, trying desperately to find her husband with no proof of what happened. While captive on the gangs' secluded island, Paul is caged with Malcolm Andrews (John Rhys-Davies), an Englishman being held for ransom. With nothing to do but talk, the two men quickly clash over philosophy, as Malcolm relies on a bold faith in God and Paul believes no god would allow these evils to happen in the world. If " god " does exist then most people are going to go to hell--- even most of the ones that are just so damn sure they'll be going to heaven will actually be going to hell instead. The ratio of people going to hell as apposed to heaven doesnt even equal out to one person per family going to heaven ----- so stands a veryyyyyyy veryyyyyy good chance that if " god " did actually admit you into heaven... none of your other family members or even just the people that you love in general will have been good enough to have made it there with you ... so you' ll be in heaven ( if you manage to kiss god's spiritual ass enough ) and eveyone you ever liked or loved will be in hell . Yeah cause this just sounds like total freaking bliss. I don't believe we're serving an imperfect God. I do agree that bad things sometimes do happen to good people, and like they were saying, they don't always hav e a happy ending. Bad things happen because of sin, but sometimes miracles happen too. I guess we just have to trust that God knows best, and we will understand someday when we get to heaven.
