An older gentleman [ He's 70 to my 45. ] was discussing this with me today. It was established during the hearing that the chimpanzees escaped in Brent's ship. Strangely though the chimps are asked about Colonel Taylor, but not Lt. Brent. Not only that, but Brent's ship was irreparable unless as someone pointed out that wasn't Brent's ship and he and 'Skipper' arrived in separate ships and what we saw was Skipper's ship. They never explain what motivated Cornelius and Zira to get in the ship with Doctor Milo in the first place and just before the earth was being incinerated. People praise the script for bringing the apes into the present day, but there are quite a few flaws in the setup. First, Taylor's ship that the apes use sank in the original, so how did it resurface? Second, how would the apes know how to fix it, since they don't seem to have the technology to fix something that advanced? Third, since it took Taylor and company several days to travel to and from the Forbidden Zone, how could Zira, Cornelius, and Milo have reached Taylor's ship in one or two? Fourth, how exactly do the shockwaves from the planet's destruction cause the ship to travel through time?
