This erotic horror film, set in 1905, tells the story of a thief who seeks refuge in a castle owned by two women, Eva (Brigitte Lahaie) and Elizabeth (Franca Mai). The women are seductive and teasing, but turn out to be part of a vampiric cult of blood-drinking aristocrats.

Fascination brings together all the qualities of its director. A very theatrical directorial direction, a superb decor, "ethereal" eroticism and an incomparable fantastic atmosphere. The story of the film is two lines but stretching scenes are not lacking. We dream about the fabulous melancholy of certain scenes: the love scene between Eva and Elizabeth, lit by a bedside lamp and accompanied by a piano, while the evening falls on the castle and ends an afternoon. gray noon of weariness, is undoubtedly one of the greatest moments of the work of Rollin. Photography is as beautiful as usual, just like the music of Philippe d'Aram that I mentioned earlier. The actors, among whom Cyril Val, a regular porn user, are not very credible and the lack of action scenes demonstrates this. However, the plot of twists and turns makes the story interesting and makes it progress in the middle of all these long dreamlike passages in which the viewer plunges like in a sea of clouds. Do you know the book "Jean Rollin et ses vampires cinématographiques" by Daniel Bastié, very complete and filled with anecdotes. The blu-ray of this film (like all of Redemption/Rollin blu-ray releases) is magnificent.  It's struck from the negative and looks it.  This opening especially looks fine in widescreen/hi def. - @Tuesday, November 3, 2015 3:55 AM

The two of them dancing on the bridge is one of my favourite moments in all of cinema. Rollin's best film, for my money although I have soft spots for The Living Dead Girl and Les Demoniaques in particular. - @Saturday, July 18, 2015 11:51 PM

It's strange that these opening credits were removed from the uk salvation dvd, and the horror channel, although horror channel did include different opening credits, no where near as amazing this as scene.  - @Wednesday, November 5, 2014 5:16 PM

The dance on the bridge scene is one of the most haunting and beautiful shoots I have ever seen. Feverish and ghostlike, I love the look and feel in this one. A masterpiece and a true work of art. Fascination and Lips of Blood are my favourite Rollin flicks. They both possess a certain dreamlike quality that I adore. They are creepy as hell but still very beautiful. There is nothing as cosy as getting comfortable with some delicious snacks and watching a good euro-horror. - @Monday, September 20, 2010 10:44 PM
