An aging Hollywood star, Joe Scott, lives a life of narcissistic hedonism, observed by his laconic personal assistant, Ophelia. The death of his childhood best friend, Boots, takes our protagonist, and the movie, into an extended flashback to a sea-side town in 1970's Britain. Hollywood star Joe is now a teenage boy in a tentative relationship with a school-girl called Ruth. Further, his mother's friend, Evelyn, is attempting to seduce him. Engulfed by guilt at the unintended, tragic consequences of his subterfuge, he leaves home. The movie then switches back to contemporary Hollywood. Joe confronts his fear and returns to England for a difficult meeting with Ruth, who had gone on to marry Boots and has been a left a poor widow.

@chuoly Daniel Craig plays an English actor living in California or someplace equally as nice but his career is rapidly going downhill, through, booze drugs and sex. when he's informed of the sudden death of his childhood best friend the movie goes back in time to his childhood apparently in a small beach town community (probably Cornwall) where we see the young Joe Scott and his best friend Boots and see why he eventually ran away. This trailer does not do the movie justice, it is severely out of order (like most trailers are) but this paints a different feel than the movie actually is, the movie is a MUST SEE. I tried to post the link to the song, but I guess that is not allowed. I believe it's STRING TALE. If you google it, there is a beautiful youtube video of it set to pics of a frozen landscape. People say he didn't evolve, but that was the point! It was about self-realization and reflection. How circumstances can alter one's life forever. I thought this was kind of a sub-par movie. Don't get me wrong, I think the acting was great. I absolutely love Harry Eden (teenage Joe) and think he is an extremely powerful actor who will go far, but even the best acting can't completely fix a somewhat weak story, but that aside, was actually a pretty good movie.
