Fort Tilden: New York City's secluded seaside nirvana where, like flies to honey, Brooklyn's hip millennial set flocks on sweltering weekend afternoons for unbridled summertime indulgence. While I found Bridey Elliot's portrayal of the nearly soulless and disgusting trust-fund brat "Haley" believable (I was sooo happy when the Indian cab driver kicks her out for being the daughter of an evil businessman who's destroying India), Clare McNulty's portrayal of Allie was my favorite performance in the film; even if her character is decidedly selfish, stupid, and cruel to her upstairs neighbor, she's a strong enough actress to make you like "Allie" and wish her well by the end of the film. I used to ride my bike from north Brooklyn to Ft. Tilden, and this film is playing at the New Orleans Film Fest on Saturday night, so I couldn't resist buying a ticket. I hope it's funny! So far, it seems like an absurd, farce-like kind of movie. Not even the most stupid trust-fund girl would get into a car in Brooklyn for $100 unless she was getting a ride to Philadelphia. So, if it's that kind of movie, absurd, then I will hopefully get plenty of belly laughs and not take it too seriously.
