A group of young adults set up tent near the abandoned summer camp where a series of gruesome murders are said to have taken place back in 1980. The perpetrator was a grieving mother, driven insane by the drowning of her child, Jason, whom she believed was neglected by the camp counselors. As legend has it, the last survivor of the attacks beheaded the woman. But then Jason came back, and now he is a vengeful and inexorable killer, wielding crossbows, swords, axes and other sharp instruments. The legend proves horribly true, as these campers quickly discover. Six months later, the brother of one of those campers distributes posters of his missing sister. The police believe she took off with her boyfriend; but he knows better. The brother crosses paths with an uptight young rich guy who is having his girlfriend and friends over at his parents' cabin. The brother ends up at the cabin himself just before his sister's attacker sets upon them all.

@baneoftheoblivion There are two explanations one he became lost in the woods after he got out of the lake, and didn't know the way home or Mrs. Voorhees rescued Jason, and was determined that no one would hurt him again hence her determination to keep the camp closed and she spread the story about him drowning to shut the camp down In Parts I-IX you can argue Mrs. Voorhees may have used black magic or something to resurrect her son before she was killed - @Saturday, January 28, 2012 11:39 PM

@baneoftheoblivion In Friday the 13th Part II one of the councilers is telling the story of the original accident, and says simply Jason's body was never found. Going by simply this movie you can argue he washed up in another part of the Crystal Lake area and went into hiding before finding his way back to Camp Crystal Lake in time to see his mother killed, after that he found the mine which became his base and became an expert hunter, fisherman, trapper and survivalist - @Sunday, January 8, 2012 8:27 AM

@baneoftheoblivion Jason's backstory is that he was a deformed child who was bullied at Camp Crystal Lake, and was drowned because the counsellers weren't watching him, he survived and fled into the woods, gradually loosing his sanity, and seeing his mother beheaded in the first film drove him completely insane. @baneoftheoblivion It's the kind of ending used by numerous Slasher Horror FIlms the you don't know what happens ending. It's a tradition Halloween (the orginal not the remake) started, the ending showed Michael Myers being shot and falling to his death, but the next shot shows his body is gone, leaving you to wonder if he's still on the loose, this is actually a remake of Friday the 13th Part II, since in the orginal Jason's mother was the killer and she died at the end - @Monday, December 26, 2011 2:59 AM
