Following the French atomic bomb tests in the South Pacific, an unknown creature is spotted passing eastward through the Panama Canal. Scientist Niko Tatopolous is called in to investigate the matter, and he quickly arrives at the conclusion that a giant, irradiated lizard has been created by the explosions. Godzilla then makes its way north, landing at Manhattan to begin wreaking havoc in the big city. Even with the combined forces of the U.S. military to fight the monster, will it be enough to save the people of New York?

Oh come on. I love this movie. The special effects were awesome. That camera man surviving because the toes came down on either side of him was hilarious. Sure there was on reason for big G to want to lay her eggs in New York but when did having a logical reason ever apply to a monster movie? it's certainly more lifelike than all the movies before it. I've watched it several times and it's great every time. It mixes just the right amount of chaos and destruction with humor and silliness in just the right proportions. Like the baby monsters slipping and sliding and falling down on those jawbreakers. You don't even give a reason you don't like it. You certainly don't give any statistics to back up your claim that "just about nobody does". I think you're wrong. I think that only a small group of naysayers don't like it. Everyone else loves it. this is a pretty good movie. trailer is horrible. but movie isnt actually that bad lol. Why does know one like it? Bad animation? animation is really good for 1998. Doesn't look like normal Godzilla? so? looks pretty cool. Bad acting? i felt it was realistic considering the giant freaking monster they are dealing with. plot? its interesting and makes sense with only a few exceptions. Ok so I thought about watching this movie before going to watch the new version of it. Just to make sure i didnt miss some prequel stuff i guess. I went to this particular trailer to see if it was worth it and some (if not most) comments said that it was a good movie. Now i came here, after watchin the movie to tell you guys this: Dont watch it. Just Don't. The movie is horrible, the cast is awwful and carracters themselves are very lame.
