Dr. Miranda Grey is a psychiatrist who works in a penitentiary, in the mental institution sector. She is married with Dr. Douglas Grey, the chief of department where Dr. Pete Graham also works. Chloe Sava, a patient of Dr. Miranda formerly abused by her stepfather, claims that she is frequently raped by the devil in her cell. After leaving the asylum in a stormy night, Dr. Miranda has a car accident, and when she wakes up, she is an inmate of the institution, being accused of an horrible crime and having no memory of the incident.

The Goths had amazing knowledge about everything from physics to spirituality, but were forced to convert to Catholicism (which appropriated their information for their own gain and gave us a made up story about "possessed people" to frighten individuals away from the true knowledge - this is the real manipulation/propaganda). So probably when people read "a vengeful spirit manipulates her" in our day and age (influenced by this history), they will think that means the dead girl is vengeful and manipulative - perhaps until the end, which definitely surprised me when I first saw this film. I never realized how accurate it is, or the things it was trying to say. Ironically, the same story as that of a ghost who was wrongly deprived of life: "No one knows what it's like, to be the bad man - to be the sad man, behind blue eyes" (to have no-one trust you). Ironically again, the psychiatrists who think they know what is Logical, act identically to those specific Catholics who wish to "exorcize evil spirits" without realizing they are being the evil spirit in question, who is the Abuser.
