The residents of Haddonfield don't know it yet... but death is coming to their small sleepy town. Sixteen years ago, a ten year old boy called Michael Myers brutally kills his step father, his elder sister and her boyfriend. Sixteen years later, he escapes from the mental institution and makes his way back to his hometown intent on a murderous rampage pursued by Dr Sam Loomis who is Michael's doctor and the only one who knows Michael's true evil. Elsewhere a shy teenager by the name of Laurie Strode is babysitting on the night Michael comes home... is it pure coincidence that she and her friends are being stalked by him?

The franchise is just weird now. Like seeing the 2018 remake and looking back on this one feels weird. Idk how to explain it very well but there's a remake that just came out this year but there's already been a remake 11 years before. What's weird is that Rob Zombie's film hardly relates to John Carpenter's film, but we still know it's part of the franchise. I'm also taking a guess that the 2018 film was made, just because of the sequel and elements that Zombie made was so shitty and disappointing that another remake should be made. 😕🤔 I mean idk that's just what I'm thinking but like I said seeing this year's remake and looking back on this one feels weird somewhat. - @Friday, December 28, 2018 7:27 AM

Okay... as someone who watched the originals before this remake, I'll gladly take the remake. People saying the original is always better are clearly living in Nostalgiaville because the original had literally little to no backstory with Michael. He seemed to have been raised by normal people and then all of a sudden decided to kill his older sister and escape a mental hospital 15 or so years later just because some person decided to let the crazies wander a field. The psychologist wasn't any more interesting. He felt so forced and barely had anything to do with the story. Then again, a lot of horror movies in those days were just about throwing some villain in there with no clear intentions other than waking up and deciding- "AYY! FUCK IT!" This remake actually builds to Myers in a realistic way and shows us how dangerous he really is. The world treated him like shit and so he doesn't have regard for human life, so he'll kill anyone in his way. Gotta love the fact Myers in the original figured out how to drive a car perfectly with no effort whereas the remake Myers made every trip on foot. The remake easily takes it for me. Ok, I'll admit that I watched this before the original. Here are my thoughts on the two in comparison: 1. I really appreciated the head tilt (when he's watching someone die with fascination) being taken from the original. It was always one of my favorite demented qualities of the movie. 2. This remake is simply more believable/brutal. It bothered me so much in the original when he's fighting with Annie in the car that he did not once slam her head into the window. The Zombie Meyers would do anything it took to put his target down and it was always in rage. His mental state was captured perfectly. 3. THE BACKSTORY. You were shown the reason for the rage and his obsession with masks stemming from a dislike of himself. So personal. In conclusion, I suppose it boils down to different views, because I was really overwhelmed by the negative comments on this movie.
