This was actually the first Halloween movie I ever saw my brother bought it at the time I didn't know who Michael Myers was . I wonder if I'm the only one who saw this movie first and didn't complain Michael Myers was not in it because I didn't know who he was . I think I saw this for the first time when I was nine . If I watch it now. It kind of looks corny , but back then it scared the crap out of me , especially since at the time it was the only movie. I'd seen where the villain's plan worked out I had seen different horror movies . My brother got me into them . But unlike somebody going around a camping killing people or an evil monster/spirit who killed teenagers on one street the villain in this movie wanted to kill all the kids in the world that is what made it a freaky movie . I'm not saying it's the best horror movie in the world . In fact, far from it , but if you can get over the fact that Michael Myers isn't in it , and most importantly , if you can somehow teach yourself to stomach the Silver Shamrock jingle , then it is worth watching . I may not remember this correctly, but isn't there a fairly obscure piece of plot (kinda buried in the movie) that relates what the bad guys are doing with the masks to the same "evil magic" that Michael Myers (from the other Halloween movies) was messing with ? There was an indication if you didn't live in a cave back in October of 82, had a television, and saw the trailer that they aired multiple times the week prior to the film's release.. If you saw the trailer, and still thought it was going to be about Myers, you'd be a dumb ass, plain and simple. Everyone bashes on about there being no Michael Meyers...to be honest Halloween 3 was the first in the series I ever saw. I saw it quite by chance on T.V. I thought it had interesting concepts and some disturbing scenes but I felt it was a very confused movie narratively. Seeing the others in the series up to Halloween 4 (haven't bothered with any others) has only confirmed this view. If it was a bit more coherant I think it would have done better. Halloween 3 is a really underrated movie its a lot better than a few other movies in the series (5,6,Resurrection, & Rob Zombie's H2). I liked the movie, it has badass killer robot asassains, factories being blown up, graphic scenes and kills, great actors, good plot, and an ending that leaves you curious to know what happens next. Granted I don't think it's as good as Halloween 1,2,4,7, or Rob Zombie's 1st halloween. I give it 3/5 stars. - @Saturday, February 11, 2012 5:19 PM

What John Carpenter wanted for the Halloween series was for there to be different scary things that happen around and/or on Halloween with each movie. Halloween II was supposed to be the end of it for Michael Myers and Laurie Strode. That's why Season of the Witch is so different from the rest of the series.
