In 1895, Dracula builds a resort in Transylvania, hidden from the humans, to raise his beloved daughter Mavis in a safe environment. In the present, the place is the Hotel Transylvania, where monsters bring their families to vacation far from the frightening humans. Dracula invites his friends - Frankenstein and his wife Eunice; Wayne and Wanda, the werewolves; Griffin, the invisible man; Murray, the mummy; Bigfoot, among others - to celebrate the 118th birthday of Mavis. When the party is ready to start, the 21-year-old Jonathan is walking through the forest and stumbles upon the hotel. Dracula sees Jonathan and disguises him as a monster to hide Jonathan from the guests. But Mavis also sees Jonathan and Dracula forces him to pose as a monster. Soon Mavis believes that Jonathan is the "zing" of her life despite the advice of her father about humans.

There is nothing appealing about Jonathan (the human) to us girls. He is ugly, dumb, worthless, looks like he needs a shower, is lazy, doesn't work, is like a second child to Mavis (his wife). I mean, if you want to instill that delusion into your children, that no hard work gets you far... You can tell a guy wrote this. Still, the first movie was a bit funny. Not only have I so far mentioned the monsters that would appear in Hotel Transylvania 2. I also have so far mentioned new monsters that Hotel Transylvania 2 would feature. Well, see, all of them were featured by the movie but the Boogie Man and Merlin. The Boogie Man and Merlin were set to appear in Hotel Transylvania 2, but they were dropped out. All the new monsters but the Boogie Man and Merlin, which I mentioned in my comments so far, are not the only new monsters it featured. The film featured a number of other new monsters like the Invisible Man's girlfriend. The new monsters that Hotel Transylvania 2 featured did not include Godzilla or El Chupacabra. Godzilla & El Chupacabra had a slight chance of appearing in there but they didn't appear in there. No, they did not. I had hoped they would not forget to add Igor, Medusa, the Swamp Thing, King Kong, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and the Phantom of the Opera, but the Phantom of the Opera was the only new monster out of those 6 monsters that appeared in the movie. So far in my comments, I have been mentioning the monsters that would appear in Hotel Transylvania 2, but all of them appeared in the movie except for Quasimodo and Martha. Quasimodo and Martha were set to appear in Hotel Transylvania 2, but they were dropped out. There are two reasons why Quasimodo did not appear in Hotel Transylvania 2. Because he never recovered from being frozen by Dracula in the first movie and because Dracula fired him. Opposed to appearing in the film, Martha was mentioned. All the monsters except for Quasimodo and Martha, which I mentioned in my comments so far, aren't the only monsters that appeared in this movie's sequel. Some of the other monsters appeared in the movie's sequel, too. As a matter of fact, Quasimodo and Martha aren't the only monsters that did not appear in the film's sequel.
