Kylie Bucknell is forced to return to the house she grew up in when the court places her on home detention. Her punishment is made all the more unbearable by the fact she has to live there with her mother Miriam - a well-intentioned blabbermouth who's convinced that the house is haunted. Kylie dismisses Miriam's superstitions as nothing more than a distraction from a life occupied by boiled vegetables & small-town gossip. However, when she too becomes privy to unsettling whispers & strange bumps in the night, she begins to wonder whether she's inherited her overactive imagination, or if the house is in fact possessed by a hostile spirit who's less than happy about the new living arrangement.

This was great. It's a quirky movie in a genre all its own. Part horror/thriller/mystery and definitely very funny. The people here who say it isn't funny I suspect are teenagers or people whose idea of comedy is a bunch of easy, in-your-face, dumbed down jokes like what you'd find in Scary Movie. That franchise is successful because virtually any person in the world can get the jokes. I wouldn't recommend this film to people with low, mainstream tastes, but the rest of you might be pleasantly surprised. - @Monday, December 15, 2014 11:26 PM

Right this film isn't scary at all and so I'm convinced Kiwi people have a different taste in horrors.....like a less scary style of taste - I would say the film was pretty 'appalling' not taking into account it was low budget, but 'pointless' serves this film much better - Insidious, The Conjuring, Sinister, Evil Dead, The Descent or The Thing (1982) all better use of your watching time - @Sunday, November 30, 2014 12:59 AM

People are weird. The comment section is divided evenly between people calling it total crap, saying things like "Horror comedy sucks/is dead/I don't see the comedy here" and those saying it looks intriguing. I'm with the latter, personally. I like the 'punch it in the face' mentality. When I get frightened, my thoughts are that if some ghost were to actually haunt and eventually kill me, I would come back myself to make it's eternity as miserable as possible.
