Writer Jennifer Hills (Butler) takes a retreat from the city to a charming cabin in the woods to start on her next book. But Jennifer's presence in the small town attracts the attention of a few morally depraved locals who set out one night to teach this city girl a lesson. They break into her cabin to scare her. However, what starts out as terrifying acts of humiliation and intimidation, quickly and uncontrollably escalates into a night of physical abuse and torturous assault. But before they can kill her, Jennifer sacrifices her broken and beaten body to a raging river that washes her away. As time passes, the men slowly stop searching for her body and try to go back to life as usual. But that isn't about to happen. Against all odds, Jennifer Hills survived her ordeal. Now, with hell bent vengeance, Jennifer's sole purpose is to turn the tables on these animals and to inflict upon them every horrifying and torturous moment they carried out on her - only much, much worse.

There is no originality these days in the horror genre. But the remakes are beyond violent. A perfect example is the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Do you want to know why the original was very effective? Because most of the violence was implicit. I have only seen clips of the remake & I honestly could not watch it. It made me sick to my stomach. People being cut in half. It's not so much anymore, and other popular films have featured it since. "I Spit on Your Grave" will no longer be the only one to do it. It might be a bit more gory than other films but it just won't be the only one anymore so a lot of the shock of it won't be there. i want to see this cuz i watched the original and liked the plot. i did flinch during the rape scene tho. it was a bit too much for me, but i was also 15 at the time. i would recommend the original. i watched it on Netflix. be aware that the rape scene is very graphic and not for someone with a weak stomach or someone who has gone thru the experience. will it be released on dvd? redbox? it didnt come to my city. :/ - @Monday, December 27, 2010 1:49 AM
