Sandy Patterson (Jason Bateman) gets a nice call confirming his name and other identifying information. The next thing he knows, a spa in Florida is reminding him of his appointment and his credit cards are maxed out. With his identity stolen, Sandy leaves his wife, kids and job to literally bring the thief to justice in Colorado. Keeping tabs on the other Sandy (Melissa McCarthy) and run-ins with bounty hunters is harder than he was expecting, and ultimately the cross-country trip is going to find both Sandys learning life tips from one another.

If I go to a coca cola machine and I swipe my card and purchase a $2.50 drink and walk away with the drink but forget to press end or cancel at the screen and the screen still says "select another drink" and the guy behind me selects another drink and I get charged $5.00 is that my fault or his? He technically doesn't have my credit card information and I swiped my card to begin with. Would this be Identity theft or is it just some lucky guys day for a free soda? Should I call the bank and dispute the extra $2.50 charge, call the soda machine vendor and ask for a refund, or contact the police and file criminal charges? It this something I should get upset about or just take it as a learning experience and learn to not leave the soda machine so quickly? Thoughts? I can't believe I watched this movie and Hancock and THEN FORGOT where I had seen Jason Bateman from. When I saw that he was the voice actor for Nick Wilde, I thought, "He looks very familiar". Now I know why. 😆To be honest, though, I didn't care much for Identity Thief. That fat woman was extremely irritating and she's also the main character in the remake of Ghostbusters, so that's enough to know I don't want to watch the new Ghostbusters.
