It was ok. The modern setting wasn't terribly successful. Thought the colour grading as it went from colour to almost B&W made it look cheap & tacky. Hopkins was alright. Pretty much what I'd expected. Nothing groundbreaking though. - @Wednesday, May 30, 2018 1:17 PM

Okay Lear is my favorite play and Hopkins is great and all but...he doesn’t really suit the part for me personally. Lear is frail, foolish, and eventually almost childlike in his demise, and Hopkins just doesn’t really suit that. McKellen does much more.
