"Walked out" of the theater after 40 minutes. Couldn't take it any more. I am VERY forgiving to B-level movies - I give them LOTS of leeway because I don't expect big budget effects or A-list actors. Actually, I don't care if the effects suck as long as other aspects are good. The "other aspects", other than the acting, were awful. Awkward, lengthy, circuitous, often pointless, dialogue - bad script. Poor direction, editing, and pacing. Bizarre tonal changes, especially in set design, weaponary, props, etc. Again, I am VERY open minded to a wide range of production choices in the medieval-fantasy genre, but I expect at least some internal consistencies. I don't want to see a modern acoustic guitar, Elizabethan-era looking homes with pictures framed behind GLASS, a guy sporting a "top knot" hairstyle, an "English" guy with a Chinese polearm, machined glossy yet-simple wooden chalices at a tavern. Lesson here: if you have a small budget, focus on what you CAN control, making the most of what you have. It looks as if they wrote filler dialogue to take up screen time before going on to something more exciting. Have a good story first, then try to tell it the best way you can for your budget.
