This film along with Anaconda are some of the best monster films, but just as with both franchises, they screwed up the sequels (not Anaconda 2). I say, if you cant do it good, dont do it at all. There has to be enthusiasm, professionalism, good technology and a good idea and a good film making team behind the project. This is what Lake Placid 2, 3 and 4 and Anaconda 3 and 4 lacks, and that brought the films down in the dirt when they instead culd have been great contributions to the franchises. - @Monday, May 6, 2013 7:27 AM

In my opinion, great movies like Lake Placid, Anaconda, and Anacondas do not deserve to be followed by the horrible sci-fi sequels Lake Placid 2 and 3 and Anaconda 3 and 4. It's a real shame.
