Due to his knowledge of the native Bedouin tribes, British Lieutenant T.E. Lawrence is sent to Arabia to find Prince Faisal and serve as a liaison between the Arabs and the British in their fight against the Turks. With the aid of native Sherif Ali, Lawrence rebels against the orders of his superior officer and strikes out on a daring camel journey across the harsh desert to attack a well-guarded Turkish port.

Fabulous film. Good analysis. Great pick of quotes from the Alec Guinness character. Btw, that's Sir Alec (and i'm pretty sure Sir Peter) to us colonials🙂). Read the book when i was 14 or 15 (almost 46 now), didn't see the movie until a few years later. Loved the book, especially due to my interest in history. This is a part of WW1 that is seldom told. Yes, an Epic Film in its correct sense. The closing sequence, his wish to be acknowledged by the arabs is defeated, and then he witnesses the lone motorcyclist...and that's how it started....with Lawrence starting uh is Brough Superior. It's a superb ensemble acting feast, Arthur Kennedy, Sir Alec Guinness, Jack Hawkins, Anthony Quinn, Anthony Quayle, Claude Rains, Omar Sharif and Peter O'Toole. It's worth naming them because they are so good! It also encouraged me to read the bio of Allenby. I still fail to understand certain aspects of Lawrence by O'Toole but that's OK because every time I see this marvellous film, I recognise something that I had not realised before.
