It’s awkward, maybe the trailer want to be more frightfull or horrormovie like.... For me Legend is a fairytail movie, with a princess, elves, unicorns, evil etc etc... In France we didn’t know all the plot or the debate with the directors cut and the music : we have just 1 version with the instrumental music like an orchestral, and I can’t imagine the movie with an other way. Legend was a cult classic during its time! Darkness was scary to me... he terrified me when I saw this movie as a kid, He still does to this day and this probbaly what the devil would look like for sure, this movie was way ahead of its time along with The Neverending Story, Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, great 80s flims unlike kids shows they have today! Legend was, and still is, to me, the quintessential fantasy adventure film. Fantastic performance by Tim curry in his role of the theatrically villainous Darkness as well as a young Tom Cruise playing the woodsman. Although, I did find actress Mia Sara to be a tad annoying at times, but overall, this is a phenomenal picture; I mean you've got great cinematography and special effects that captures the essence of a fairy tale. It's a damn shame this film is so underrated, but think of it this way, this and Scott's other feature, Blade Runner (one of my all time favorite films) would be the perfect subjects for a film class in the analysis, characterization and etcetera of the science fiction and fantasy genres. - @Wednesday, September 21, 2016 3:38 AM
