My short review of this film: excellent message, very poor execution of delivering said message, making a relatively bad movie overall. This movie could’ve been so much better had they actually focused a lot more on the lineman aspect, to justify why we should honor the lineman who have given their lives in the trade. Instead they focused more on poorly written characters, facing cliche Hollywood problems, who just just so happened to be linemen. Why did the film need a creepy stalker? A veteran suffering PTSD? The whole film should’ve been more about the triangle relationship between Beau, his niece, and her boyfriend; it should’ve shown more of Beau being a tough mentor, while the boyfriend grew and matured into a good lineman from it, and proved he could be a good man for the niece. Would that have still been stereotypical? Yes, but it would’ve gotten the point across much better. I have nothing but respect for the men who brave some of the worst weather conditions to ensure that we have electricity in our homes, but this movie could’ve done a much better job convincing others to feel that as well. - @Friday, February 2, 2018 4:22 PM

I was actually looking forward to sitting down with a few coworkers to check this out and to be honest we all started laughing when Travolta arrived on the scene. He over acted the part a bit much for me. As for his final scene of the movie, the substation work is handled by substation electricians, not linemen. Although things might be different in Texas. And the second point would be that there was a safer way to get that bus work closed that would have taken as much time as his final speech to Duncan.
