They were not power crazy psychos as some of you say they were two people madly in love given an opportunity that could change their lives. They gave in to temptation and it tore them apart, drove them mad with guilt and fear of being found out. Lady Macbeth so loved her husband she wanted to see him achieve the greatness he deserved but at what cost? Her husband questioned her and she ended up convincing him and when he showed remorse and frailty she took control in order to maintain their cover.
