Rocky Dennis was a real gift and inspiration to people who have all sorts of obstacles. He was also really lucky to have a mother like Rusty, who I feel was also was a gift of the kind of parent one can be to their child. You can tell that he was everything to her and the one thing that kept her going. Both Cher and Eric Stoltz played all that so perfectly. I feel like Mask is important on so many levels and how much it's based on real life only makes it all the more meaningful and transcendent to this day. It shows that even through tragic circumstances, you can still make your life meaningful and make a profound difference on all those around you no matter what cards you may be dealt with. - @Sunday, November 9, 2014 6:28 PM

Rocky Dennis died of lionitis, a disease that caused excess bone to grow in his head and eventually crush his brain. His BROTHER died of Aids. I think he got it from a blood transfusion His MOTHER died in her 70's from infection related to injuries she got in a motorcycle crash.. yeah.. she was a hardcore biker chick... even in her 70's..
