He could have stepped back a little to record the incident. 98% of these cases could have been avoided if they would cooperate or just obey the law. Loitering,selling loose cigarettes or any type of solicitation is breaking the law. People can find better things on the streets to do. The premise of this movie is garbage and thus will be the movie as well. To cast a black man as an advocate of the police or the actual police shooter himself is a gross miscast. The vast majority of shootings of unarmed men of color is this country, specifically young black men, is at the hands of white male law enforcement officers. I am certain the numbers/statistics will bare out that fact. As such, a white male officer should have been cast in that role. To insinuate that the shooting of unarmed men of color is a matter of judgement irrespective of race or economics is disingenuous at best and downright deceitful at worst. This movie is nothing more than an attempt to cloud the perception of the black community that maybe our sense of justice is skewed and that maybe we are part to blame. As for Mr. Washington, I am just about ready to swear off seeing another one of his movies. Wow, I love these kinds of movies where the cop who shoots an unarmed man couldn't be right in any conversation. It doesn't matter if the unarmed man is attacking the police officer or causing a danger to said police officer. Nope, the officer is always wrong no matter what. I'm not saying there aren't bad police officers. I know there are. But they are in the minority. Maybe some of these people commenting on "police brutality", shooting unarmed "innocent" criminals, and racist police officers should spend a week in the life of a police officer on the front line. Maybe, just maybe, the police officers aren't evil, racist or power hungry. Maybe, they're just doing their job as best they can so that the public is safe. There are different levels that cops go through until it gets to deadly force, but situations can escalate very fast. End of the day just do what cops tell you to and fight it in court.
