Nina's career started going downhill because of her political involvement in the civil rights movement and how her music circulated to be about that. Even though she was standing up for what she believed in, she got a lot of backlash. That as well as the constant emotional, verbal, and physical abuse from her husband at home -- this trailer makes it seem like she herself was the cause of her own demise when her story had people ripping her apart from every aspect of her life leading her to leave the U.S for a long period of time. Her story is about her not ever fufilling her dream of being a concert pianist, and the moments in her life that stopped her from getting there. She was actually forced to sing at her first job or else she would get fired -- so this was never a dream for her. Not only is that wrong, but casting a lighter actress and painting her a darker color to fit a role is sad and shameful. What has Hollywood come to?
