Rachel names the agent, Erica Van Doren, a woman whose young daughter is in Rachel's son's class at school. The government moves quickly to force Rachel to name her source. She's jailed for contempt when she refuses. She won't change her mind, and the days add up. Chaos descends on Van Doren's life as well. First Amendment versus national security, marriage and motherhood versus separation. What's the value of a principle?

Stupid movie. High rating but really unimpressive. Just finished the movie but no spoilers here. Dunno why she wouldn't release the name of her source. The source wouldn't have gotten in trouble. Maybe someone related to the source, but would you lose your husband and son and your freedom to withhold the name of this particular source? Fuck that. She tore her life apart to save another family and it didn't go well for either family. Don't get me wrong. The story itself. The plot, the dilemmas, the characters, filming, script etc was fantastic. I'd still say it was a good movie, just really stupid because a big deal was made over "nothing". I actually thought the source was going to be someone she was sleeping with and cheating on her husband with. That would have made for a better story. - @Saturday, June 4, 2016 6:07 PM
