Four magicians each answer a mysterious summons to an obscure address with secrets inside. A year later, they are the Four Horsemen, big time stage illusionists who climax their sold out Las Vegas show with a bank apparently robbed for real. This puts agents Dylan Rhodes of the FBI and Alma Dray of Interpol on the case to find out how they did it. However, this mystery proves difficult to solve even with the insights of the professional illusion exposer, Thaddeus Bradley. What follows is a bizarre investigation where nothing is what it seems with illusions, dark secrets and hidden agendas galore as all involved are reminded of a great truth in this puzzle: the closer you look, the less you see.

First saw a trailer of this movie YEARS ago in the movie theatre. It seemed like a dumb movie, but was convinced by a family member to watch it. It turned out to be as pointless as the trailer makes it appear to be. (SPOILERS BELOW) The whole movie was kinda pointless, as indeed why would go through all this trouble for basically one big soap for who? The whole movie had no interesting story, no character development. It was just a row of 'shows' and then cops chasing them, without ever feeling like they might get caught. The only decently refreshing ending that it was himself, but since the name of the movi e was 'now you see me' , i thought already of this possibility (since you're watching him alot of of the time). The biggest problem was that it's like a this would work if you could influence all of these things and people beforehand to make this work, the car blowing up stuff as an exmaple. If thinsg turned out 2 seconds earlier to faster it would not work. The blonde 'unplanned' chick got the car to chase them, but somehow he appeared on the highway just at the exactly right time anyway. If you can run such magic to make everything run sooo smoothly and to exactly predict everything that might come, then basically anything is possible and there is not really any problem in the movie...and usually movies resolve around problems..but there is none. It''s like a mindfuck movies for children. Things do not add up at all, it's just mostly filler action content, the 'mindfuck' element does not really work if you think about it, so basically there's not much left. The first two acts were amazing but then they had the plot twist and it turned into absolute shit. Then in the second film Henley wasn't in it and we had some 'strong, sassy, independent woman who don't need no man' bland slate to replace her, atlas, merrick and the other one were literal scraps of Saran Wrap and Mark Ruffalo's French girlfriend is just never mentioned. The only interesting part was the card-chip scene. And now Henley's just never going to be in the series again!
