After losing her job, Jersey girl Stephanie Plum is broke. Needing a job she is told that her cousin, a bail bondsman, needs someone to help out in the office. But the only job openings he has are for skip tracers. She learns that Joe Morelli, a guy she knew intimately years ago, is one of the "skips". She eventually finds him but wasn't really prepared so he gets away. Another bounty hunter, Ranger, tries to teach her. Eventually she finds Morelli again, but he claims he is innocent of the crime he is accused of and he is trying to prove his innocence. Eventually Stephanie thinks he's telling the truth so she stakes out the person who can help him. She only finds herself in trouble and Morelli saves her. She tries to find someone who can prove his innocence, but the problem is that shortly after meeting with them they're killed or attacked.

I have an idea... to the know it alls that think they could have recreated, produced, picked better actors and actresses, ect..... Well, Do It! Then we can all pick your interpretation apart and tell you how bad you are!!! Books are read and envisioned differently by every reader! Your imagination will Never duplicate any other! How does the Author rate the movie? I'm pretty sure there were prescreenings, changes and permissions involved. And remember this: You have to squeeze and shape as best possible, to make it fit in 2hr-ish time frame! I enjoyed the movie, myself! I found it charming! Thank goodness I choose to watch first! I really liked this movie. I think Katherine is a perfect Stephanie (although she didn't have a jersey accent) and Jason o mara (Morelli) was just how I envisioned him. people are too harsh critics. They had to adapt the book into a movie or else it would've been too hard to follow for people who haven't read the book. Halfway through I forgot about the fact that this takes place in new jersey. I read a lot of complaints about accuracy of story and accent. I don't think that is the important part. The fact that the movie is just a lumbering, convoluted, phoned in self-absorbed me-a-thon. Heigel produced as well as starred in this awful adadptation of an awful book. Before you start hen-pecking, you can keep enjoying the books and still admit that it is the basist form of writing appealing to our least engaged minds. In short, this film sucks. I've heard it's not all that good. And accuracy? Not at all. They got so many things wrong. It's sad that I can tell that just from the preview. And I looked at the cast list. Ok I read All of the books and Katherine Heigl is NOT Stephanie Plum in anyway. I pictured maybe Sandra Bullock possibly?? And Lula is definitely MONIQUE in every way. The whole point of Evanovich's character "Stephanie Plum" was that she was the "ultimate Jersey girl" with the accent and all. Unfortunately, Ms. Heigel does not do a convincing New Jersey girl accent, it's not even passable as a Delaware or a Philly accent.
