I'm not sure if all that gore and blood is necessary. The movies is visually impressive non the less, but doesn't need all the visualisation of cruelty - And I don't even get why a lot of movies go that direction at all. Filling a gap that cannot be created otherwise? Storywise ok, not surprising, not as moving or emotional dens as Braveheart for example. It tried to be accurate non romantic but a bit too much for my taste, doesn't leave a satisfying feeling behind therefore felt a bit empty to me.
