"Patton" tells the tale of General George S. Patton, famous tank commander of World War II. The film begins with Patton's career in North Africa and progresses through the invasion of Europe and the fall of the Third Reich. Side plots also speak of Patton's numerous faults such his temper and tendency toward insubordination, faults that would prevent him from becoming the lead American general in the Normandy Invasion as well as to his being relieved as Occupation Commander of Germany.

They really didn’t know how to make trailers back in the day, which is weird because they sure knew how to make amazing movies... - @Tuesday, September 11, 2018 7:03 PM

War is like a similitude of life. In life, one may be attacked, abused, betrayed, robbed, or victimized. Some are shell-shocked. Others do not desire to see the battlefield, the war, and would rather pretend "life goes on", "tennis anyone?", "so and so is getting engaged", et cetra. Well, it is important to keep one's humanity, but some put a higher priority on survival, winning, fighting, and not seeing oneself as a victim but as a soldier. You keep moving forward, doing your duty, to war against evil. So, that speech he gives, at the beginning of the film, how like "daddy" saying, "this is war, so hate the world, and prepare for battle" ? - @Sunday, February 4, 2018 8:54 AM

This scene shows that the American Flag is the Movie Screen's underlying pattern. Patton equals Pattern. So , General Patton equals General Pattern, which is the pattern of the American Flag. - @Monday, April 4, 2016 11:14 AM

Pffft! LOL _WHAT?!_ "GP"?! Really? This is a PG film? I can excuse this for being a 1970's film since the PG-13 rating didn't exist at the time, but this is still a war film with language not meant to be heard by minors, it should've been rated R. Oh, I'm sorry, how could I have been so incorrect, I meant to say rated "M" *_(for mature audiences, that was the rating at the time)_*, this is just too hilarious. No wonder nothing was accomplished in that decade, people really were fucked up on drugs. But this is still a good trailer *_(I only came here because of its beautiful Ultra-Panavision 70 aspect ratio)_* nonetheless. - @Friday, November 13, 2015 12:36 AM

I love how people like the complain about how movie trailers give everything away now despite the fact the movie trailers in the 60s and 70s could go 4-5 minutes easily. modern trailers are minuscule compared to this and give away far less. - @Friday, April 10, 2015 3:49 PM

General Patton's favorite weapon seemed to be his rather large pair of binoculars which enabled him to view the action at a safe distance. ;-)  All kidding aside, he was a great fighting general, a rare thing in any epoch of history.  His occasional emotional outbursts were inexcusable though.  Lieutenant Generals, or really any model soldier and especially officers, never lose their cool, especially under fire.  Even if it is deliberate theatricality and not a real loss of control, it is unacceptable because it looks like a loss of control and sets a bad example. Discipline first, discipline last, discipline, discipline, discipline.  His foul mouth was also boring after a while.  When every other word or phrase you utter is "shit, ass, son of a bitch, god damn &c." it loses its effect.  Such language should be used when necessary, but sparingly so it retains its capacity to shock and grab attention. - @Sunday, March 8, 2015 3:29 PM

A P-51 Mustang was flown to Spain and some Buchons ("Messerscmitt Bf 109's" in Battle of Britain movie) got faked underbelly airscopes mounted to resmble P-51's, for this movie. Anyoe who knows why they never showed up in the finished film? - @Friday, March 6, 2015 3:10 PM

Undoubtedly, an ALL AMERICAN HERO in an ALL AMERICAN CLASSIC. George Smith Patton was truly a man who lived for a war. And would die to win one. And as George C. Scott rightfully says in Palmero "I dont want these sob's to love or like me. I just want them to be good soldiers." And who else could lead an elite 3rd Army better than a maverick supersoldier like Patton !!!! It wasnt a hype that Nazis feared him. Had he lead D-Day instead of Bradley & Montgomery, Europe would have been freed from the clutches of Hitler in late 1944 itself. - @Saturday, February 7, 2015 9:47 AM

What a load of crap! The DESERT FOX Rommel had already been defeated by the British and the first time the Americans, in overwhelming numbers actually MET the Germans in battle, at Kasserine Pass the Americans got the asses whipped big time. In Italy the British actually provided 60% of all the combatants , the planes , the troops the warships. In actual conflict in ALL the theartres of war against ALL the enemy, including the Japanese in the Pacific, the British had, up until the very FINAL 6 months of WW2 a preponderance of actual 'in conflict" with all the enemy ..more men, more ships, more planes and more war material. You can actually find this out if you want to dick around a bit..so don't say it is bullshit unless you DO dick around!  Propaganda is one thing.....raw truth another! - @Thursday, October 16, 2014 9:56 AM

Patton will never got a chance to join the army today because of his politically incorrect tendencies. Patton is truly a military person, in his mind there is no such thing as PTSD and other PC bullshit.   Sadly, today's American Army are bunch of sissies, pushed around by more primitive opponents, dumbed down by politcal correctness urged by the San Francisco bohemians and their ever indulgence with expensive techno toys. American military lacks of bold and imaginary commanders from the past and their soldiers are psychologically weak. Good luck fighting the Russians. - @Saturday, June 14, 2014 6:02 PM

There are many countries that absolutely hate America......When the shit hits the fan and they need help whose the first people they call ..... America...... They all know that we will always come and help ......We give up our best and brightest for them... Watch a show called "The Air War" from the History Channel .... Go to Amazon and buy it ... Its 2 hours long ... You wont be sorry ... This hits home for me as my father was a pilot during WWII .... Its about the men of the 8th Air Force during WWII .... Two thirds went to their deaths in B-17s to free Europe..... They never whined or complained ......... When asked why ? .. They would always say , "Its what needed to be done"........... "Never in the annuls of history has so much been owed by so many to so few"..... When the war was over we rebuilt every country that asked for our help .... All we asked for in return was enough ground to bury our dead on........ America........... The greatest country on Earth.............. - @Friday, May 23, 2014 12:30 AM

Even American soldiers were executed by the firing squad due to involvements with rape. That is a collateral effect of wars. Furthermore German people by worshiping that maniac slaughter ( Adolph Hitler) deserved what they suffered at the end of WWII. - @Tuesday, January 14, 2014 1:16 PM

The Red Aymy did not deserve to be hated by Patton after the taken of Berlin. After all the Russian people really were a heroic people who gave many of their lives in fighting the Nazi germans and of  great help for the allied victory. - @Tuesday, December 31, 2013 2:29 AM

Greatest General the United States ever produced. Was hated by many of his men, but they always said of him; " If ordered, I'll go to hell and back with him"  All the general staff of the Germans were scared of him. A great man. - @Wednesday, December 25, 2013 1:56 PM

hello? patton actually started to sympathize with the germans and hate the russians and jews (though he didn't know they were fake khazarian jews). he was ordered not to take eastern europe but let it fall into commie hands by ike and his advisors. read his letters. but that's not in the movie, is it? - @Saturday, November 2, 2013 3:01 AM

Ahh. And now comes another keyboard battle that will change absolutely nothing. I agree with you but you know there is no point in expressing our opinions on youtube.
