How far would you go to protect your family? Keller Dover is facing every parent's worst nightmare. His six-year-old daughter, Anna, is missing, together with her young friend, Joy, and as minutes turn to hours, panic sets in. The only lead is a dilapidated RV that had earlier been parked on their street. Heading the investigation, Detective Loki arrests its driver, Alex Jones, but a lack of evidence forces his release. As the police pursue multiple leads and pressure mounts, knowing his child's life is at stake the frantic Dover decides he has no choice but to take matters into his own hands. But just how far will this desperate father go to protect his family?

I know people like to roll their eyes at the concept of an all-star cast. It's like trying to mask stench with cologne they argue. People that make such arguments should be sterilized so that their taste in cinema go no further. This ensemble cast blended together beautifully. The movie is so perfectly acted. Nobody drops the baton. It goes from one character to the next seamlessly. There is a strong theme of manipulating and coercing human behavior. Another one is spiritual violence, but man, I'll be honest with you; I don't even care that much. You drown is the great performances from choice actors. Don't get me wrong, the plot is solid, but it's just jimmies on an ice cream. I know it normally goes the other way around. Well guess what folks, this movie is an enchanted castle because carts are pulling horses. It's so good in small ways. I love displays of rage, despair, confused hope, agony and wavering morality. Absolutely amazed at the love being shown for this incredibly average and very bloated film. It was like someone trying to threaten you with something you knew they would never actually carry out - it just completely failed to convince me. At absolutely no stage did I seriously believe that any serious harm would come to the two missing girls, or Hugh Jackmand or Jake Gyllenhaal. If it has Hugh Jackman in it then you just know the goodies will win, the baddies will lose and under no circumstances whatsoever could two angelic children actually be murdered. And what a surprise - they are both found alive and well.This film simply didn't have the minerals for it ever to be taken seriously. It was also horribly cliched in places (the mobile phone call at just the right moment so he doesn't find the hidden room, or him spotting the maze pattern after smashing up his desk - oh please!). Then at the end, it tries to squeeze in a whole new subplot about mazes. It has a whopping a running time of, according to IMDB, 2hrs 34mins (yes, 154mins!!!!) and it feels every bit that long.
