Tom Mullen is a millionaire, he built his fortune by working hard. Along the way he learned how to play the game. He has a great family. One day his son is kidnapped. He is willing to pay the ransom but decides to call in the FBI, who manages to go into his home secretly. When he goes to make the drop something goes wrong. The kidnapper calls him again and reschedules it. On the way Mullen decides not to go and appears on TV saying that the ransom he was going to give to the kidnapper is now a bounty on the kidnapper.

This film is so underrated, check the IMDB and it's got okay ratings but it deserves more. Mel Gibson is vulnerable and different to every other role I've ever seen him in, Gary Sinse was someone you just wanted to see die a painful death, every other character you're supposed to hate, you do hate, every character you're supposed to like, you do like. It never leaves you feeling bored, it's intense, plus the ending doesn't let you down either, really good film I think it deserves at least a high 7/10 or a mid 8/10 at the least, instead it carrys a rating like 60/100 and 6.7/10, I don't understand it... - @Monday, January 8, 2018 7:57 PM

You may not believe me, but when I first saw the trailer (yes waaay back in '96) I told my family, Gary Sinise did it. He appears once, in the last few seconds of the trailer. I thought, this dude is a huge actor (back then) why wasn't he in the trailer more. Then, I was like, "oooh, I see." Oh, yeah. Kinda Spoiler Alert. They should have done what Se7en did.
