I for one am an american who very much enjoys films from all over the world. I have seen Contraband. My question is simple as I have no interest in the debate. Is this worth the watch if I have already seen the Hollywood version Contraband? - @Friday, May 25, 2012 6:26 PM

The american version was so much better! - @Wednesday, April 18, 2012 9:31 PM

Well, I watched the movie & it was great! I am familiar with quite a lot of comedians, actors, and singers from several parts of Europe, Asia, and Australia but it's impossible for me to know everybody all over the world. I think the reason why Americans enjoy American movies is because we are used to seeing certain actors & we enjoy seeing them in movies. If the guys in the Icelandic version are popular over there then I'm sure people enjoyed the movie there just because they were in the movie. - @Saturday, April 14, 2012 9:31 PM

It´s hardly an American remake, both versions have an Icelandic director. Baltasar Kormákur who acted in the Icelandic version directed Contraband. Only difference is that Contraband has English actors :) Anyway, i have yet to see Contraband, hope it´s good ;) - @Saturday, April 14, 2012 3:08 PM

Explosion are very rare in Norway as well, but then you had the bombing in Oslo and the Utøya massacre. I'm just saying that you can never really know. - @Sunday, March 25, 2012 9:08 PM

Falko Böcker
@rocafit4 That's not completely true. The leading actor of the Icelandic version is also a well know director, so he directed the US-Version. He was involved in both movies, but not as director. - @Wednesday, March 14, 2012 3:43 PM

The movie Contraband is Directed by Baltasar Kormakur who is a Icelander and also is the lead actor in the Icelandic version. Also there are alot of Icelandic acters in Contraband. So dont give us and Hollywood all the glory for the remake :) - @Wednesday, January 18, 2012 8:42 PM

"Fucking Icelanders" LoL the only thing I understood in this whole trailer. I heard that this is the original film of an American remake called "Contraband". Sorry to say, the American version looks A LOT better. They probably had a 100 times more money to spend but I'm still glad they made this movie because we would not have an American version without it. - @Tuesday, January 17, 2012 4:04 AM

It's not american's remaking the film at all. Baltasar directed the thing, and apparently a large portion of the film crew were icelandic. It's not like it's a grand hollywood conspiracy or anything... - @Sunday, January 15, 2012 4:50 PM

It's not "Americans" remaking the film. It's not like we're gathering at town halls and petitioning Hollywood to remake a Steig Larson film because we're too lazy to read subtitles. We've seen the original version. But Hollywood decides that they can make money off of the film so they take it and make it with a bigger budget. Please stop confusing the actions of Hollywood (or the Government) with the American people. - @Friday, January 13, 2012 7:47 AM

@eskimoe69 Americans like to hire actors known to Americans and make the films with bigger budgets and (usually) greater technical skill in regard to stunts, scale, scope, locations, etc. - @Monday, January 2, 2012 8:04 PM

Why do americans always need to remake great movies for their own people!? They can't read (subtitels) or don't understand other languages? :) This version is excellent!! - @Sunday, November 27, 2011 10:55 PM
