Set against the sexy, glamorous golden age of Formula 1 racing in the 1970s, the film is based on the true story of a great sporting rivalry between handsome English playboy James Hunt (Hemsworth), and his methodical, brilliant opponent, Austrian driver Niki Lauda (Bruhl). The story follows their distinctly different personal styles on and off the track, their loves and the astonishing 1976 season in which both drivers were willing to risk everything to become world champion in a sport with no margin for error: if you make a mistake, you die.

This actually looks good, and I don't care about racing. Cinematography seems terrific. I think they should wait until after Thor: The Dark World to release it though. I'd say it should open Thanksgiving week. There are no action movies currently set to open there. And September is crowded as f*ck with wide releases. Hope this actually turns out good, we dont need Hollywood crap to make good. This is a story and setting that if done good it has the power to make this film magic. It will either be Hollywood Run-of-the-mill american popcorn fat man entertainment only - or great. Senna was a documentary. It's was made using home videos and interviews with people who knew him.... So I think 'realistic' is an understatement. Whereas in a DRAMA like Rush, actors playing a role in a film based on that of a real person, I suppose could be considered as 'caricatures' because they are interpreting their own take on that person for a dramatization of past events. Movie's based on real events aren't meant to be like for like reenactments, they're primary goal is to entertain. - @Wednesday, April 10, 2013 12:26 AM
